Work: Alabama refers to federal law prohibiting employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex and national origin. School: the Alabama Student Religious Liberties Act states that a public local board of education may not discriminate against students or parents on the basis of a religious viewpoint or religious expression. Students may express their beliefs about religion in homework, artwork, and other written and oral assignments free from discrimination based on the religious content of their submissions. Government: the Alabama Religious Freedom Amendment recognizes the free exercise of religion as an unalienable right. The government is prohibited from burdening religious exercise without compelling justification. Alabama

Work: the Alaska Human Rights Law prohibits employment discrimination on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, sex, and physical or mental disability. School: policy of the Alaska Department of Education & Early Development states that educators may not harass, discriminate against, or grant a discriminatory advantage to a student on the grounds of race, color, creed, sex, national origin, marital status, political or religious beliefs, physical or mental conditions, family, social, or cultural background, gender identification, or sexual orientation; shall make reasonable effort to assure that a student is protected from harassment or discrimination on these grounds; and may not engage in a course of conduct that would encourage a reasonable student to develop a prejudice on these grounds. Government: Alaska state policy prohibits treating an applicant, employee, or member of the public unfavorably because of his or her sincerely held religious beliefs. Alaska

Work: the Arizona Civil Rights Act prohibits employment discrimination on the basis of religion. An employer has a duty to reasonably accommodate and not to discriminate, not only with respect to religious beliefs, but also with respect to religious practices. School: state law of Arizona states that a public educational institution shall not discriminate against students or parents on the basis of a religious viewpoint or religious expression. Government: the Arizona Civil Rights Act prohibits discrimination based on race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, physical or mental disability, and genetic testing results, and prohibits retaliation because a person has opposed discriminatory practices, filed a discrimination charge, or otherwise participated in a judicial or administrative proceeding concerning a discrimination complaint. Arizona

Work: the Arkansas Civil Rights Act states you have a right to be free from discrimination in the workplace. State law also imposes a duty upon employers to make reasonable accommodations to the religious practices of their employees and applicants. School: the Arkansas Religious Viewpoint Antidiscrimination Act staes that schools may not restrict a student's expression, provided it's voluntary and non-disruptive, or promote any particular religion. Work: the Fair Employment and Housing Act prohibits discrimination based on age, ancestry, color, creed, denial of family and medical care leave, disability (mental and physical), marital status, medical condition, national origin, race, religion, sex, and sexual orientation. School: the California Fair, Accurate, Inclusive, and Respectful Education Act states that a teacher shall not give instruction and a school district shall not sponsor any activity that promotes a discriminatory bias on the basis of race or ethnicity, gender, religion, disability, nationality, sexual orientation. Work: the Colorado Anti-Discrimination Act prohibits discrimination because of disability, race, creed, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, religion, age, national origin, or ancestry. School: the Colorado Department of Education requires schools to provide eligible children an equal opportunity to enroll and receive services regardless of race, ethnicity, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, gender identity, lack of housing, income level, or disability, as such characteristics and circumstances apply to the child or the child’s family. Colorado

Work: the Connecticut Fair Employment Practices Act prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religious creed, age, sex, gender identity or expression, marital status, national origin, ancestry, present or past history of mental disability, intellectual disability, learning disability, physical disability, including, but not limited to, blindness, status as a veteran or status as a victim of domestic violence. School: state law of Connecticut for the Department of Education requires that each child enrolled in K-12 public schools have an equal opportunity to participate in the activities, programs, and courses of study offered in public schools, when the child becomes eligible to participate, without discrimination on account of race, color, sex, religion, national origin or sexual orientation. Government: the Connecticut Constitution grants a person the right to freely follow their religion, which prohibits the state or any of its political subdivisions from placing any burden on this right.
